FREEZE-THAW
PIKUS TESTING DATA AND RESULTS
Pikus has tested the freeze-thaw in real weather conditions for four years. Testing data is collected from several Utah-based locations in seasonal outdoor weather. As part of the testing protocol, Pikus will ensure all freeze-thaw testing is done in the most extreme weather conditions for quality assurance. We test each batch of material with several different prints.
General testing over the course of 1 year of outdoor use.
Heavy-duty testing over the course of 4 years with fully finished products.
Testing with a variety of finishes and coatings resulted in consistent results.
Standardized testing throughout all projects.
Products are tested after two weeks of curing.
Testing results have shown 3DPG to have a higher performance level than regular concrete.

Notable Results
-
Over the course of four years, PikusPrinted objects have shown to pass through several freeze-thaw cycles with little to no cracking or chipping. Minimal chipping may be present at the base of the structure if certain coatings are used.
-
Variations in print coating and internal supports have had varied results. Certain internal structures have expanded during freeze-thaw cycles, resulting in cracking. This is easily preventable with the latest PSM technology from Pikus. Coatings may vary the freeze-thaw performance. Not all coatings have been tested in real weather conditions.
